Our hope and goal through our foundation is to raise money to give back and pay it forward by helping families of children with serious medical needs, supporting local volunteer organizations, and providing scholarships.

About Team Massimo Warriors Foundation

Team Massimo Warriors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to supporting local families with children facing serious medical challenges. Established in 2019 by Massimo's parents, Maureen and Frank Cherichella, after their son Massimo's premature birth, the organization aims to create a lasting, positive impact by paying it forward.

Friends of Team Massimo Warriors are proud to sponsor the 7th Annual Golf Outing. Your participation will help raise funds for organizations such as SAM's NICU at Morristown Medical Center and the JoAnn B. Poppe “Roots and Wings” scholarship, which supports a local high school senior. Through our golf outings, Team Massimo Warriors has raised over $50,000, supported families with children battling cancer, and contributed to the Osteogenesis Foundation. This year's funds will also assist families with children facing serious medical conditions and help cover costs for Massimo's upcoming out-of-state surgeries. Join us in making a meaningful difference!

Massimo’s Journey

Massimo was born prematurely at just 23 weeks, weighing only 1 pound 6 ounces. His early start in life came with many challenges, including a 4.5-month stay in the NICU. Unfortunately, he developed an infection in his right leg that led to the self-amputation of his toes and affected his growth plates. This marked the beginning of a long journey involving numerous surgeries.

Over the last 14 years, Massimo has traveled to cities like Philadelphia, St. Louis, and West Palm Beach for various procedures aimed at addressing issues with his leg, hip, and foot. This journey has included four limb lengthening surgeries. During his recovery periods, he and his family stay at Quantum House in West Palm Beach for about three months. Here, Massimo participates in daily physical therapy and has numerous doctor appointments to monitor his progress.

As he is still growing, Massimo is expected to continue to travel to West Palm Beach for additional limb-lengthening surgeries in the coming years.

Massimo is nearly 14 years old and is an amazing, determined, and dedicated young man. He perseveres and thrives while enjoying activities and sports with his peers. Massimo uses a running blade as a prosthetic device to compensate for his limb discrepancy and the absence of toes.
