About the Weekend Warriors:

In 2017, it came to our attention that some  students were arriving at school hungry on Mondays because they didn't have enough  food at home over the weekend. To  address this, the Thompson Business  Association started the Weekend Warriors program. Families can sign up to receive a  bag of groceries every Friday with kid-friendly foods like cereal, bread, peanut butter, jelly, and snacks. Each bag has enough food for the whole family.  

Currently, the program feeds 52 families from the elementary and middle schools, around 225 high school students, and 79 senior citizens, totaling approximately 1,873 people each month. Funding for these initiatives is obtained through donations and fundraising events, notably the annual Thompson Business Association Golf Tournament held in September. All proceeds from the tournament support the Weekend Warrior program.
